Chondroitin Sulfate
Chondroitin sulfate is a key structural component of the bladder's glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer, the protective coating that lines the urothelium and shields nerve endings from irritants in urine. Research on interstitial cystitis has found that this specific GAG is often deficient in the bladder lining of people with the condition, which is the core rationale for replenishing it. Chondroitin sulfate has been evaluated in multiple clinical trials in women with interstitial cystitis, and at the cellular level it's been shown to help restore the impermeability of a damaged bladder lining, the same barrier function IC is believed to compromise.
- Core Building Block of the Bladder's Protective GAG Layer
- Bladders Affected by IC Are Often Deficient in This Specific GAG
- Helps Restore Barrier Function to a Damaged Bladder Lining
